So I want to start by introducing myself and telling you readers a little about my business. My name is Tiffany and I am a wife, mother and sewing machine! Haha! My husband is active duty military and it has been rather hard to find a job as the area surrounding a military installation is swamped with qualified applicants. So thus, I started making things. I started out with a Singer machine, one of those $80 deals from Walmart. Well needless to say, it died after two years and literally two uses. I was devastated until my husband surprised me this past Christmas with a brand new Brother Project Runway sewing machine. I was so excited I almost cried! I could continue making things! YAY! So I started small, a pillow case style dress for my daughter. I made it out of three handkerchiefs and some pink ribbon.

After that I made a few little things and then started to want to be able to do more. I purchased a Brother Serger and a Brother embroidery machine PE-770. I started making dog/cat collars covers.

They were simple and quick. Pretty straight forward design. Quick cuts, folds and a zip through the serger and presto done! The cost for an embroidered cover is $19.99 or a simple cover could start at around $9. After making a few and one for my husband's friend's new dog, I saw an opportunity to cash in and decided to open an etsy. this is my etsy, there isn't much there as of yet but I am hoping to build an audience first, then post more and more to the shop! Last week I made a camera strap cover for a wife from my husband's unit. I had to make it twice b/c my lines were not 100% straight and my husband and I decided maybe making a new one would be better than having an unsatisfied customer! My husband is very picky and has an incredible eye for detail, which helps when I don't see very well and often refuse to wear my glasses!

Above is the finished product! I love it and wish I had a camera strap to make myself one. They are fun and easy to make and can be customized a million different ways. This one is made from heavy duck cotton and minky fabric. It is also padded, for a more comfortable fit! I added the key chain for free b/c it took me a day past when I told her I would finish. These sell for around $25. I can embroider ($5) and add pockets to them also. The price depends on the fabric used, the amount of time to construct and any customizations. I have fabrics ranging from canvas to silk.
After tackling these more simple projects I moved on to something a bit more in depth. My husband's father passed away almost 6 years ago and we had a bunch of his old t-shirts folded in our closet for years. I decided to try my hand at quilting. I can say this...Never again. The only way I will make another quilt is if I absolutely have to. They are time consuming and my hands still hurt.
I am not 100% proud of it b/c the lines are a little wonky and it is not symmetrical. My husband likes it and I like that the shirts were made into something my husband can use to comfort himself and keep himself warm with :)
After finishing that I posted a picture of some crude examples of key chains with different hardware and some embroidery for $8 a pop. One of my husband's Sergent's wives told me she wanted one so now I have been trying to master those!
Well, as soon as I get those 100% I will be attempting an ACU purse. I haven't found a pattern I like as of yet so I am making my own from scratch and then I will upload all my pictures from start to finish and make a tutorial! I find it kind of rude that there are so few free tutorials for this specific purse design. Only service members loved ones would want one or want to make one so why not spread the love and help a fellow sister create one from her husband's top? Well as soon I get it put together I will get it put up!
Thank you for reading and I hope to make this a daily habit worth continuing!
